Warsaw | Weles bar: backdoor speakeasy
Dionne Warwick used to sing ‘That’s what friends are for’.
And, to my experience, friends are there to point you in the right direction.
Especially when you are in a new city and haven’t had the chance to do a lot of research on what to do, and most importantly what to eat and where to wash that caloric sin with more calories, in a liquid form.
And that’s how you end up in front of a black door with no sign, on the backside of a popular hotel, ready to take the stairs down to the best cocktail bar in Warsaw.
And there, waiting for me, an old friend: Penicillin, 4 years after our first meeting in Hong Kong with its unmistakable small of smoky whisky.
