Kyoto | Ōkōchi Sansō Garden: not just a matcha tea

In the western part of Kyoto, about 30 mins ride from the central station, there is a gorgeous groove of bamboos, where the predominant sound is the one of birds and the woody tick of the bamboos animated by the wind.

Almost at the end of this relatively short walk through this ‘silent jingles’ forest, there is a Japanese garden, Ōkōchi Sansō, one of the most beautiful of the Country, built by the actor Denjirō Ōkōchi over a period of 30 years at the beginning of the 20th century.

The entrance to the garden and the villa requires an admission fee paid off by beauty, peacefulness, spirituality and an amazing matcha tea at the end of the visit.

Enjoy the view, respect the silence and sip your tea!
