It looks like a thick cotoletta. It’s pork and it’s fried.

We are talking about tonkatsu, the Japanese cutlet. Probably one of the most democratic food in Japan not only because you cannot not love it, but also literally as we tried it in a popular location in Ginza, Bairin, and the chairs were a constant alternate of school kids, regulars, tourists and business people, whose shiny watches could enlighten a dark night without stars.
